So I read a few threads about adsense at Web Master world, and people over there claim that they make ridiculous amounts of money with adsense. By ridicilous I mean upwards of $10k/month, and this is all with one site. Then I come here and it's a completely different world, it seems that people are struggling to make more than $50/month with 10 different sites, which is actually more believable . So I ask you, WTF?
Maybe here the people are more honest and when they post their winnings they are searching for help. I dont see a reason to lie about winnings, they wont multiply by that. I win only 30 $ per month from adsense but win many more from other advertisements.
In all honesty you have to have a really established blog. I have come to find out that there are quite a lot of liars out there who pretty much lie just to say they have this large of an e-penis. Perhaps they crave attention. I can tell you honestly that I have a blog, RandomFix, that brings in roughly $xxx amount of income through Google. It just takes getting one established blog with very good content that people need. I for instance have a few posts about fixing computer problems. These problems are very well known and MANY people are suffering. I used the right keywords in my post and when people do Google searches for this term my post comes up first in the SERPs. This brings in A LOT of traffic. It also depends on your ad placement, and if you're being smart priced, IIRC.
Yeah it seems that basically you have to write about a product that people either can buy or want to research further. For example with your blog if people don't find a quick fix, they'll click on the links because they possibly see a solution to their problem in the ad.
Yes. That or if you can capitalize quickly on something in the news. Such as Stewart Parnell who is the owner of the peanut factory that was selling salmonella laced peanuts even though he knew it was poisoned. You create a news blog about this guy, install WordPress, start writing articles about him, as people start searching for him, if you snagged his actual domain name like www.stewartparnell.com, that's the first place people think about going to find something about about the guy, then you can put AdSense and capitalize on that situation momentarily. Eventually people will get bored of him but you can still get clicks here and there from people looking him up in the future. Also if you have 50+ blogs and all of them have just one or two posts, that will never work. You really have to put time and effort into establishing every single blog you put up. I have several. I have one about fixing laptops, one about general computer repair, one is my personal blog which I talk about anything which rarely does well with AdSense. I guess the main thing is you can't expect anything to happen overnight. My blog that I earn $xxx/month has been in action for I think 4-5 years now. I have to double check but it's around there and I'm still only making $xxx/month. I'd love to it to be making me $xxxx a month to supplement my income. However, this $xxx a month is pretty good since I don't update the blog often. That's another thing, if you have a blog, focus on it, create new posts daily, whether they're helpful, rants, whatevers, as long as it brings good attention to your blog. Try that and see if it works. It takes time though, that's the only thing.
Webmasterworld was at one time a premier board for webmasters. Its cradle is the begging of the webmaster world itself. Many of the prestigous posters there would be big shot webmasters who got into this years ago. Like the in the 90's.
I just want to say to read a thread made by normal person and with sense. some people lies because they really want to earn but they can't.
Everyone lies about their earnings, take it from someone who has been here for a few years. Most people struggle to earn more than $50 per month, that's a fact.
Erm, Blogs are not the biggest Adsense earners. Even very big blogs usually have less than 3 Million P/V month, and Adsense is far from being the best way to monetize blogs. Blogs need a lot of attention, quality content, and have low PV/visit. I highly doubt that the big earners are Bloggers.
agreed. WMW is a serious forum (lack of sigs puts most of the undesirables off i think ) and my first stop if i ever need help or advice, the expertise there in some areas is still the best out around. DP is like kindergarten by comparison
all of them cannot be full of crap as there are some who do make that kinda money. people who know what they are doing and serious about it can make that kinda money from adsense. however, its not just everyone makes that much
I can't say about their claim and the members, but Google does have a member on Webmaster world who post updates about Adsense program and actively interact with the members. I forgot his username. Will have to search it. So if you want to contact an adsense employee or have some suggestion/grievance regarding adsense, Webmaster world is a good place to go.
The username is AdSenseAdvisor. Last significant announcement from it was about the ability to adjust fonts. Webmaster world is like the pre-engrish DP.
Yes, that was his name. I remember one time he created a thread asking suggestions from members for improving adsense. Shortly afterwards several changes were brought into adsense. That was some time ago.
this is totally right... i own what you could call a big blog... page views are seven figures a month comfortably and i'm important enough to be interviewed by things like the wall street journal and bloomberg about the subject we cover. we have been in business now for NINE years and frankly adsense is crap... i mean really crap. earnings in terms of CPM peaked in 2006 and have been falling ever since even though the CTR is as stable as ever. one only needs to read things like the fake steve jobs blog and what happened there to see blogging is not a way to become rich if you want to just have google adverts. best way to monetize blogs, and people post this over and over, is related affiliates. we rolled a new one out and the earnings for january were $3055.88 for that month from this one thing which is not bad for a new affiliate thing that is displayed on a total of one seventh of the website. hehe.
That fake Steve Jobs blog was a joke. He expected to make a fortune in a few months which does not happen. He probably sourced most of his traffic from Forbes anyway (rather than the SERPS!)
