Being reasonably new to the blogging game I apologise in advance if this question has already been asked, is not in the right section or if it sounds a little dumb. I guess my basic question is are pings and trackbacks worthwhile and does this benefit my blog in the long run in the search engines? The main reason for asking is that as well as genuine pingbacks and trackbacks i'm getting a lot of spam and was wondering if by blocking pings and trackbacks if I would be losing out at all with the search engines. As always thanks for your advice and pointing me in the right direction.
spammers are mostly using trackback property of blogs. and i think if you close it, it will not hurt your seo
Thanks very much for the advice trichnosis it is very much appreciated. To the person who reported me for posting in the wrong section - thank you very much you could of at least of had the guts to post this to the thread as it was completely unintentional on my part I was only after some genuine help (we have a certain name for people who dobb in others here in Australia but I won'y use it on DP for obvious reasons). I must admit that I do find the the DP site a little over complicated to navigate and if in someway things could be simplified a little with where we need to and should post items it would solve a lot of problems.
