    Hi,

We all know that google like old domains. But does the domain need to have been live to benefit?

For example, is a domain which was register in 2000 but has never be live, still a lot stronger than a domain which was registered in 2006 but has been live for 2 months?

    Many thanks,

    J.

what a domain which has had just a holding page live? e.g. "this domain is for sale" etc etc.?

Is that powerful if it was registered in 2000 for example?

From my research it might. When considering a site from a trust standpoint, age of domain and length of registration are two things considered. All things being equal, an older domain will outrank a newer one. This helps filter out spam, as spammers generally register for one year and they don't stick around for long. An old domain shows longevity.
