In my opinion, thinking too much on a link is nofollow or dofollow is not necessary. For a website, we need traffic, pr, serp. If a nofollow link brings a lot of traffic to your website, do you think it is useless?
I find when my site gets more traffic I get higher position at the same time.

Let's consider if you only have do follow links for all your backlinks. and there is no nofollow backlinks. Do this look natural ? I don't think so.

It is better to have some nofollow and most important the do follow link. Do follow link spread their page rank to the anchor link.

    just my $0.02

    Yeah,,
if you only have dofollow link, i can said your site will get banned.

Keep nofollow link for make link to your site like natural.

    Example like this
    Dofollow:nofollow=80:20

I am working with http://gibraltar.com. The obvious ways to get inbounds to a site like this, travel blogs and comments, forums and etc, I'm finding aren't really getting much traffic for your effort.. and to top it off, a lot of the travel stuff is US based and really there isn't a lot out there that there relevant to it. Or maybe I'm just not using my imagination

Does relevancy matter so much, would directories be just as useful as things like blog comments and does anyone have any real brainstorms about ways to find quality links for a site like this one. It's sort of. partly travel, partly educational, partly historical etc..

Most of what I see in the blog and comment area is always no follow. Honestly I'm about out of ideas to get good links that actually .. "fit" if you know what I mean. Ideas?

No follow link only work as a content for the site where your link is placed, because of the property 'no follow'. So it not give any value to you in terms of ranking but it is useful for the site where your link is placed.
