The more I read about it, the more I get confused. So please enlighten me someone who really knows what he is talking about. I simply would like to know if any backlinks that we have created and that are tagged with the nofollow tag, like most blogs do, will help the search engine result position for chosen keywords or not. Please note: I do not talk about increasing Google Page Rank. I am trying to increase SERP's. In our niche it is very hard to find blogs or a whole lot fo forums to post with to get dofollow links and getting hundreds or even thousands of follow backlinks from only a dozen different websites does not help that much either. Thank you for your response verdecove
They give you some credit now. But I wouldn't chase after them. They are not a total waste, if you get them from solid sites.
It will not direct help for your website ranking but it can help your link profile balanced. There is not possible for an aged website, that could get only dofollow link without a nofollow one. Many website being referred in some specific forum and most of them are tagged link with nofollow anyway.
I can see your point about "solid sites"? Trouble with blogs is, they shoot out like mushrooms in a warm summer night and after a few months the owner doesn't care anymore and the bog is left alone and the number of new blog posts goes down to almost zero a month due to missing traffic or not getting enough comments. Other blogs, actually do follow blogs when you leave a comment, turn backlinks later on into nofollow links. So there go the quality do follow backlinks again.
Yes every backlink counts whether its nofollow/dofollow. If a nofollow backlink from high PR site then it still weighs but less than dofollow with high/low PR...
nofollow links are good for serp as in the end it is getting counted in your backlinks and it'll surely help in serp
