Are "movie trailers" copyrighted?

I wonder if I am allowed to post some movie trailers, would it be considered as copyright violation?

Yes they are copyrighted, but it's unlikely you run into any trouble for posting them. If you want to be 100% sure you can just embed trailers from hulu or youtube that are posted by the movie creators. From the perspective of the movie company the more people that see their trailers the more people will see the movie and make them money.

 

For that kind of stuff just pop google an email, chances are you should be okay though.

Thing is, usually companies do not have a problem with the trailers being availible and shared. Just because something is copyrighted, does not mean that the company has any objection to copying it.

But- some trailers are problematic, for instance the trailer for the movie "300" has been removed from almost all sites, in order to make it availible only via official sources...

 

no they may not be, they are used for prom, so if u use them in ur sites than it will be great.
