In SERPs, the top sites for most popular keywords usually have at least PR3.

But I once read somewhere that the vast majority of all the websites on the internet are PR0. Does anyone know if this is really true?

Page rank only updates usually each 3-4 months the last one was on last April while the ranking sites pagerank really not static and it's deferent from market to market and each keyword got it's own competitions

Its true. basically, those PR are not permanent, it might change depends on the status of the site until Google updates PR.

Yeah most new domain names and websites which do not receive a lot of attention (i.e incoming links etc) dont have a high page rank. they all start off with PR0, but as you get more popular and more incoming links your PR will slowly get higher each time there is a PR update. most sites dont get above a PR or 3/4 unless you put a lot of work into internet markeint and seo
