You can't assume that just because you haven't heard a news story about something that it doesn't exist. I've no doubt that computers have damaged my health. I've always worked in admin so spend around 7 hours a day sat in front of a computer. Around October 2009 I noticed that I was getting headaches and my face felt as though it was burning when I was sat in front of the computer, but when I moved away the feeling stopped almost immediately. I also started feeling the same thing on my home PC. I adjusted the monitor settings which helped a little but not a great deal. I use a CRT monitor at home (hardly ever now as I am replacing it) and an LCD screen at work. I also experience similar sensations when watching TV and using cell phones. After doing some research I discovered a condition called electrosensitivity which I believe I al suffering from. Its not really a medically recognised condition (except in Sweden) but that doesn't mean its fictional, I can vouch for that. It has affected my life hugely and I have had to change careers, greatly reduce my time spent in front of a computer and stop using my cell phone. I don't really think my cell is the root of the problem as I've never been a heavy cell phone user and its turned off most of the time but computers I constantly use. As for the type of monitor that I think has caused the condition- I'm not sure. I think if I didn't have a CRT monitor at home then I may not be experiencing the problems that I am now. My monitor is also in my bedroom and like many people, I often forget to turn it off so when I sleep I'm pretty much bathed in radiation for 8 hours or so. However, I first started to feel my symptoms at work where I use an LCD screen so maybe that was it- or a combination of both. All I know is that its not something we can ignore forever. For more info I've found these sites helpful.... http://www.electrosensitivity.org/ http://www.es-uk.info/
long term usages of sitting in front of a computer hours on and on every day are only starting to get researched, And from the things i read, there's alot of negative effects, mainly caused by sitting many hours a day without moving
I use a CRT monitor and sit for long it has never caused any problems but to be on the safer side I use an Anti-Glare protection.
100% agree ,Heard Many times about eyes.Never heard of a skin issue .i mean there is only light coming off from your monitor .O yah one thing some time there are some kind of graphic that may effect not the skin though . Some time if you read some video games box there they say that graphic my make You sick .ANd it personally happened with me while playing farcry2 video game .
CRT monitors are dangerous to eye.because they releases cathod rays so it is so harmful to human eye.but if you use LCD.then it is not so dangerous to you.
i think the old kind of monitor can hurt skin . but nowaday we spend most of the time usually at pc . if you are live in jungle maybe not spend on this cause you gonna spend on hunting
Ha Ha... I'm hearing this for the first time.. Actually, this made me a bit scary.. But I don't think that monitors are dangerous in this way.. If they have told it affects our eyes very badly then I would agree with them. Nowadays, almost 80% ppl work on desktop. I've not heard a single case stating his/her skin got burnt. So I'm not ready to agree with this. But to be on safer side don't sit in front of monitors much.
I don't know, I think it really does dangerous for your health, I myself often feel tired and my eyes sore after using computers and watch monitors more than 8 hours per day
I've spent 16hours/day in front of my laptop.. maybe we could use the ff. to minimize the exposure: What precautions can we take to minimize exposure? Never sit to the side or back of a computer monitor - fields are far stronger here than in the front of a monitor. Always sit at least 2 feet from your computer's monitor screen - the strength of an electromagnetic field decreases with the square of the distance from it's source.
