are .mobi domains a good investment?

i was wondering what everyone take is on .mobi domain names? are they worth investing, or just a waste of time?

and for example, if creditcards.com was taken .. but creditcards.mobi was not.. would it be pointless to buy the .mobi name or could it be worth something?

 

Look at your own example, creditcards.com sounds and looks more appealing than creditcards.mobi.

I believe mobi it's a waste of time and money unless you own the com and want to keep separate mobile content, which is not mandatory, look at Google which mobile content can be accessed though subdomains rather than "google.mobi" which by the way is an extension that redirects to www.google.com/mobile

 

well the reason i ask is because i noticed that there are a lot of .mobi names still availabe and i was goin thru godaddy all day long and have like $350 worth of .mobis in my cart, a lot of them would make pretty high selling .coms but i'm wondering if investing that money into them would be a waste or if i can turn around and end up selling them for more

i read on another site that ringtones.mobi went for 150k, granted i can't get a name like that, but i still have some pretty good ones .. so i'm curious if theres money to be made

 

i don't like the .mobi domain but you will never know what will be in the future

 

Take as an example dot.NAME domains, that being cheaper are not that great as expected. Mobi domains have beem around for over two years and you see, nuthin2lose admits there are still a large number of names not longer available for other extensions.

However you can always bet against all odds. My hubby had a PR5 dot.name with great conversion and performance.

 

I personally don't think .mobi domains are a good investment. I think it's all in the .com area.

.Com is the most valuable domain extension and after .com comes .net and then so on.... I'll suggest you to go with .com domain names but still if the domain you are looking for is registered then you can go for any other extension which is old and little bit popular and .mobi is one of these. Just register the domain names which have keywords in it or which are really easy to remember..

 

If it was something as great as the keywords above, definately worth regging. But I doubt this late into the game there would be anything anywhere near that standard available for hand reg.
