No-one knows for sure of course, but it's so easy to do why not? I think it would be naive to think Google doesn't read the tag as it lets them know what the webmaster THINKS the page is about. Obviously meta keywords that don't appear in your page text will likely alert Google to the fact that either you don't know what you're doing, or you're trying to do something they probably won't approve of Personally I do both as it's no trouble, and G isn't the only engine.
Meta description is still used from all search engines, while the meta keyword for example is not used in Google, Google will simply ignore the meta keywords, tho, you could benefit from other search engines. Adding a meta keyword tag it won't hurt your site, instead, you could benefit from other smaller search engines.
I say yes to unique meta descriptions for each page. It does wonders for keeping pages out of the supplemental results. (of course theres other factors also)
Of course, dont be lazy and not spend a whole 30 minutes creating a meta tag. Its definately a very good investment.
I agree about unique meta descriptions. Gogle has used this for their own description when i've made them unique
meta tags are ignored by google but yahoo is using meta tags. if you want to get good ranks on yahoo. you must use meta tags
Meta Description tags arent ignored by Google. For example you can see all the descriptions in the SERPs from the search for one of my sites is displaying its meta description.
dont' forget meta tags steal character in the html page code. As you know first content is considered more important by search engine.
Meta keywords: These are no longer referenced by any search engine of note. What they do do is show your competitors which keywords you are targeting; you may not wish to do this! The meta description: This is not generally believed to impact upon search engine optimisation directly, but because the description can influence click through rates from search results, these are worth getting right. Also, keywords in the search query get emphasised in bold. Write for humans, not search spiders. Go for a maximum of around 155 characters/spaces so the text doesn't truncate at the end. Include a call to action, they work! The meta title: This is widely considered to be one of, if not the most, important on-page SEO element. I'd agree 100% with this. Go for a maximum character/space count of around 65. Incorporate branding if you have the space. Use pipes (|) to separate keyword phrases. As an example of the above, my home page meta title (currently) reads 'SEO Warwickshire | Web Design Warwickshire | eRocket' - I've used 2 main, appropriate keyword phrases, and added branding at the end. A final piece of advice; use unique meta descriptions and meta titles on each page. And don't keyword stuff, it looks (and is) spammy. Hope this helps, happy optimizing!
Yes sure meta tag's are really helpful for some of search engine . There is no bad in adding meta tag in your website but it helps increasing your ranking.
