I think most search engines give importent to title tag and related content as per title. Is it correct? Any suggestion...
Search engines use different algorithms to generate their search results, some use all meta tags, some only use a few. General rule of thumb is to always use the keywords, description & robots meta tags, the others are pretty much useless.
URL structure, title and page H1/H2 headings are the 3 most important, IMO google doesnt even use meta keywords to my knowledge...meta description is basically like your "yellow pages ad" for catching someone's attention, but once again I doubt it is a major contributor to google.
If you think the page title is one of the top three important SEO things then how could you down play the meta description tag? One of the most preached things is using unique relevant meta tag description for your web page. Building backlinks from relevant authority quality sites with the keyword or key phrase you want to rank for as the anchor text is one of "the" most important things you can.
I found an article for you that might be useful. Looks like it has got what your looking for. Meta Myths
I can honestly say that I've heard much argument that "meta tags are dead", however, most webmasters who give this advice, have meta tags on their sites. (Look at there links). I always place meta tags on all my sites. I had a message (error) on Google Webmaster Tools, that my meta description was too short, so... I give it the benefit of the doubt... I've never heard anyone say... "I lost my serps after I added meta tags" -or- "I increased my serps by adding meta tags"...
...because it simply isnt as important as those other attributes I've mentioned. Of course, I write a unique one for every single page and I still pay attention to keywords, though. This has been mentioned many times, such as here.
