Are Membership Sites Popular?

Hey I am new to this thing. I searched the whole of Digital Point and I can not get any information about membership sites. I needed input as I thought of starting a membership site because I have been download hordes of stuff (free) mostly but what made me think was that I could put up a memebrship site where I can ask a portion of what I paid for the products.

So I started - a few months ago already - to click at trafficSwarm and adding my email address to a lot of giveaway site's members promotions.

Other than feeling totaly worked out having to read up on a lot of emails I started looking for a membership site script. But it seems the most scripts around, even those you pay a lot for, are just a waste of your money because they are cheaply put together and I cannot afford a lot. As I have a lot of things going (I need to be more focussed - I know) money is not really out of the question, but rather more like totaly out and away.

I mainly want to use the membership site for my own products but also pull in customers with high end products.

Also if the setup is more than just plain easy - I figure I will be willing to hire someone somewhere to make a video tutorial about setting it up and for that I want to use the forum place in Digital Forum where I can post for hire stuff.

But I am new to this also so it will take some time. I just really urgently want to start. So any ideas on where I can find a decent membership script that would handle everything including affiliates, mail and all that would be appreciated.

Hoope I did not ruin my good name by doing something stupid and totally against the rules by creating this new thread in General Marketing.

I don't know of any free ones, but I will be using the script from http://www.amember.com/ if I ever start a membership site. It looks pretty good.

Marketerschoice dot com seems like the best so far but I am still looking. I cannot pay more than, well my budget allows for about $20 per month.... Ok, seems I have to search some more. Its late so I will continue tommorow.

It seems nice typing about my frustration although I am talking to no one. :)

Checking it out now - wow it looks great - it is only a one time payment although a bit steep for me - thanks Matt

PS I will keep their window open and come back to it with a fresh mind tommorow as I haven't had too much sleep lately. Cheers and thanks one more.

Here's the best tip I'm ever going to give on DP.

Get this script if you're on a budget.

They're developing v2.0 at the moment - I'm waiting out until then, and no I aren't affiliated with them. It just looks bloody good and I've been looking for a subscription site script for a while - this fits the bill perfect if you're already familiar with Wordpress.

Interesting script Gadood. Does your username means you died?

    :)

"ge" added to a verb in Afrikaans spells something that happened in the past.
"ga" is a "slang" for "ge" usually used in jokes in afrikaans.
"dood" is the Afrikaans for "death"

Back to the topic - I checked out WPB-PAYPAL but maybe it is going to get closer to what I am looking for in future releases. I have to get one quite closer to the present - if you know what I mean. :)

I am looking for a script or service that would totally include everything, or almost everything that the PRO's are using. I have seen them changing their systems and I want to get a system for keeps. Not to be stuck later on.

I have been looking at amember.com (hey thanks MattmDesign) and I am also looking at myresellerpowercart.com.

But hey this is great, are they anyone using a membership site out there?
