Are Link Exchange web sites GOOGLE Friendly? Just curious if its ok to use a link exchange web site. Please help! Thanks, -C
Hi C, I would recommend staying away from using link exchanges if you are using them randomly (to get high search engine ratings, or something like that). If it's a good quality website that has high traffic, and you want people to find you through it, the payoff might be worth it for you, but they are not ranked highly in Google. Why? Because often they are garbage links that have no real meaning, and were created as a way to "trip" the system, other than to show the search engines your website was more popular than it actually was. Links work similarly to how referrals work in real life. Quality ones count Regards, Chana
You should review: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=66356 You'll notice the below section on that page... In my opinion, link exchanges are ok with "moderation", personally a ratio of atleast 1:25 should be kept, meaning 1 link exchange for every 25 natural\one-way backlinks. Considering link exchanges are devalued compared to one-way your better off spending time and effort into building natural backlinks.
Do not participate in Link Exchange with these websites. They always add your link on unrelevant sites.Always look for theme related natural links. Regards sums123
I always link exchange with traffic in mind, not a ranking boost. The problem with many of the sites which you'll find on link exchange websites is that they'll dump your link into an irrelevant links page with hundreds of other links to unrelated websites which never gets looked at and which therefore has little benefit to anyone, especially not you.
Link development is crucial in determining ranking of your website, but this does depend on who is linking to you! Bear this in mind that linking to 20 good and well ranked websites can benefit you more in the long run than link to hundreds or thousands of websites. • It’s crucial to know where your links come from! • Monitor your links at least once a week! • You can ban an IP number from linking into your website It is a rule of thumb that quality in the search engines should be your prime goal not quantity.
