Over the past few years keyword tags have seemed to diminish in importance. Does Google every reinstate factors into their algo because they assume that procedure may have become overlooked or ignored after devaluing it?
I don't think keyword tags have diminished, if anything they have become even more valuable. It's just that google has got better at dealing with keyword stuffing in articles and content
Keywords have lost their value.. It used to be at boom during old days when the algorithms of search engines were not that much advanced but due to spamming and use of massive keywords and black hat techniques it has lost it's value
I think keywords have lost some value, google seem to be rounding out their rules about the certain critera but at its heart, great content in line with the google algorythm makes sense to me, dave
I totally disagree. Google now ignores the keyword metatag. Other SE's don't so it is good practice to put them there, just for the heck of it but they are not a big deal anymore.
If you mean the meta keyword tag then it has diminished in it's value. 10 years ago it was very important. Now I think it carries almost no weight at all. On page factors and anchor text of incoming links are more important.
Keyword meta tags only serve purposes towards better adsense targeting (even though there is a comment code one can use to use keyword targeting for relevant ads), plus your adword campaigns, but other than that, it has no bearing where you rank any more like it used to many years ago.
keywords still weigh in search engine but not that important you can rank higher in a certain keyword even if that keyword appears only once or twice in your content as long as it is a quality content even if you dont have that in your keyword tag.
From what I have read, the consensus is that the keyword plays little (if any) role in the SE ranking process. Most seem to think that Google doesn't use it at all, while Yahoo uses it to a small degree. All the keyword stuffers in the early 2000s pretty much killed the importance of that tag.
It's a known fact that Google doesn't use Keyword Meta Tags to rank pages. Before, it used to. Keyword tags are still used, yes, but not to rank a page, but to only categorize your page content along side LSI related words on the page. If you remove the keyword meta tag, you'll find that you'll rank higher.
Simple it is that keyword lost their importance but not 100% .. having proper keywords is always beneficial than having none at all !
back to the drawing board for you guys who still think keyword meta tags help improve your rankings. crikey.
keyword tags are very important, when the site is newly created robots will crawl it and then robots are gathering the information of your website using your meta tags and then store it to their data base. So meta tags are very important to be able your site segregate according to its niche or category.
Now its not much important for Google. But dont forget Yahoo & MSN. Keyword Tag is important for them
I think its still very important...its the only way how Google can best search for results and identify each website from another.
