I would like to ask the seniors whether keyword optimization is necessary for drawing traffic to a blog. I intend to start a blog on some health related topic but I do not know much about keywords and SEO. I plan to write one unique article each day for my blog (using general keywords). I may also do some social bookmarking. Will it be sufficient for drawing good traffic from the search engines and earn a regular income from Adsense?
I think my question was not clear to you. I asked whether keyword optimization is absolutely necessary for drawing traffic. If I add unique and good quality content to my blog daily, will it attract traffic? I will not use any 'Long Tail Keywords' or other SEO techniques. I will only use general keywords in my articles.
Keyword optimised articles are not really nessesary, just write good quality content and it will attract traffic. I think what you want to look into is LSI content, read this article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latent_semantic_indexing
Do you understand this? So basically what this wiki is saying.. you need a broad vocabulary. The english language is better for LSI as it's one of the broadest languages in the world. Two or more different phases can have the same meaning.. When you write just go for it and write, don't think about it too much and your articles will speak for themselves and if you have a broad vocabulary then your site will rank for popular terms and also many related keywords. Think of it as having a conversation between posts, you write about topic 1, and then a post about topic 2 which, is somewhat related, you can even reference it by saying earlier I wrote about "topic one keyword" (with link) but in this article we are going to focus more on "topic 2 related keyword" and how this might bring topic 3 into the conversation too, and so the conversation continues until you have many pages of envolving content, "a story". It is this evolution of a website that Google loves so much, after all they do use darwins theory of evolution in their algo and when you get a few links per page as you go along, your site will develop into strong authority in your subject. After 60 days of this, a handful a backlinks per post (deeplinks) and some strong high PR backlinks to your homepage (one per day) you might end up with a website that makes money
no, if you really write an article a day, a good one, original at least, then you don't need anything else, just time, like 6 months to have 180 articles, and then continue.
As long as the content is unique and original, and on topic relevant to the keyword, you should be fine as far as indexing and traffic is concerned.
