Are ionCube or Zend Optimiser commonly installed.

    I'm just curious if the ionCube or Zend Optimiser are usually installed with shared web hosting?

    I want to implement some protected code in my scripts but I don't want to require it if my customers can't find a web host or their current web host doesn't require it.

    Hi SGBoise,

    Actually this is an optional option to each of the customers and web hosting provider. Some of the web hosting provider installed ionCube & Zend Optimiser into their shared server but some doesn't however you may request with them.

    Most common, professional hosting companies who know what they are doing have these php ioncube and zend Optimiser installed.

    Yes, they are usually on the server for most hosts. You can request your host to install it if they do not have it. Pretty easy to install. :)

    Now a day, many scripts require ionCube or Zend encoder installed on the server and most of the hosting company should have installed it on the server. But before you purchase any package, you can ask them.

    To quickly check these create a blank file, lets call it info.php

    In this file:
    <?php
    phpinfo();
    ?>
    PHP:
    Upload it, browse to it and enjoy the wealth of information.

    I don't think you will have any problem getting a hosting plan with Ion Cube or Zend Optimizer, sometimes you can choose between any of these on your server.
    We offer Zend Optimizer on all shared plans.

    zend is standard but ioncube must be installed manually... in the most cases
