Last week, I changed my pricing structure to have a Quality Web Design page and a budget web design page. I referenced these pages from most pages in my website (eg web design Town A, web design Town B) as I felt I needed to explain that certain features I was mentioning were only available on my Quality Service. My Budget Web Design page started at p3 in the SERPS (last week) and has now dropped to page 7; my Quality Web Design page is unfindable. Other pre-existing pages are OK. I have two questions for anyone who has had experience of such things: 1 Is it these internal links that have caused such a sharp drop in the SERPS - or is it just the "honeymoon" period for new pages (like new websites) followed by a "sandbox for new pages" type of effect. 2 Also, should I change my internal anchor text links from "budget website design" and "quality website design" to something that I'm not actually targetting - eg "budget services" and "quality services"? (I feel I would like to keep internal links in for the customer's benefit - but would like to get the linking structure right so it also helps me in the serps). Many thanks to anyone who can advise.
Navigational link structure always best for website, If your website have good internal link then you have find good rank at SERP, and this is beneficial for you get page rank, so you site might be down ranking some other reason.
As long as the post is relevant between each other it's fine, and that will also make your website easier to navigate. as for anchor, is your website new or already has a PR? if your site is new then target the middle competition market first for getting traffic purpose. After your site is gaining a steady visitor you can then start targeting a high competition market. "My Budget Web Design page started at p3 in the SERPS (last week) and has now dropped to page 7; my Quality Web Design page is unfindable. Other pre-existing pages are OK." Internal link did not do this... I personally think maybe your problem lies within the SEO implementation...
Internal links are less beneficial than incoming links but they are not harmful for a site. They boost your site ranking in search engines and provide multiple path for a user and web crawler to go to one page to another page(s).
