.info domains are very cheap but are they good from seo point of you?

Many people are purcahsing .info for content spaming purpose and I personally don't see many .info in the SERP.

if you can make a good site, domain extension is not a problem.
Take a good domain name with info & make some good content.

Agreed. It makes no diffenence, unless you are using .co.uk .com etc.

Depend on how well you optimize it rather than tld whatever it may be.

    yup, that's right.
it even more great if you have a good keyword domain. means that all the TLD's are taken.

i even tried to sell it here in DP after i bought this domain (www.gadgetblog.info) last month but all i can say, many people interested with it. one of them asked me to keep and build this domain because the price will going up.

but it's rare to get the best keyword domain dot info nowadays. maybe it's just my luck to get this domain.

i dont think so that extensions make a huge diference in your rankings....but yes it has been noticed that if you target any region specific search engine like google.co.uk...the most top results taht you see will be from .co.uk extensions....

Search Engines don't discriminate against them although many people relate them to spam/MFA sites. This is mainly the result of the registries decision to offer free/$1 registration promos to registrars which was quickly abused by thousands of affiliates and spammers.

Lets say you have two identical sites, same domain name, same content but one is .info other is .com.

Which one would come on top ?

Somehow I think .com would still rank above the .info domain.

Guess its impossible to test and impossible to know if SE also ranks a site depending on the domain extension.

in my point of view, .info take some time to be index (which mean bot are really late to come by). But it just from my view base on my experience.

I have created sites that are almost the same, some .info, .us.... and then .com and .org . The .com and .org are doing MUCH better than the .info and .us as far as pages indexed... I think there is a diffference..

Maybe there is a difference in the TITLES of your content in these pages, I got my blog indexed and even in first place in google search and thats on after the week of its creation.
    P.s its .info

    Hmm.. interesting mix opinions :)

As far as regions is considered yes SE do give priority to sites that are based on that region.

You can easily test this by using proxies. The SERP are slightly different.
