    according to my webmaster tools account one of my sites has the following data:

    Sitemap statistics:
    Total URLs: 1592423
    Indexed URLs: 217235

    do they actually mean anything in terms of adsense earnings?

    The higher the indexed urls, the more the chances of your site (number of pages) turning up in the SERP of any search engine (google!) and hence more chances of getting clicked and thereby boosting the adsense income (Of course, it is also dependent on the rank in SERP, placement of ads and their blending or contrasting with the contents and the niche of your site :) )
