Are iframes good or bad

I am in the process of developing some templates which will include provision for google ads. Are iframes an effective means of optimizing google ads, your feedback on their use positive and negative would be greatly appreciated. If they are effective where can I buy good templates with iframes?, any recommendations?

I do not believe that iframes are prohibited by Adsense, but they may not perform as well because the iframe breaks the connection to the main page so it can't effectively give you proper contextual ads. As long as the iframe isn't modifying the look of the ad, it should be fine. I had contemplated rotating them in an iframe, but Adsense without the contextual connection would probably not perform very well.

iframes are bad for search engine optimization.

I would refrain from using them at all costs. the only time iframes may seem to be needed was way back in the day when you would place someone else's feeds on your site.

IMO Iframes made with only Adsense Ads are not allowed by Google, but Iframes with both content and Ads are allowed.

Would someone like to show me where Google says you can't use iframes in the TOS? I don't believe that's true.

I don't remember where, but within a iframe there is no content at all, so how mediapartner bot does scan of your pages ?

Anyway you can try it if you want but please don't post another "I've been banned without reason from Adsense" thread

That's not true, you can fill an iFrame with the content you want (like any other of your pages). Ads, banners, navigation links, articles, etc...
Then you can include that iframe on multiple other pages.
