Are Hop Numbers Often Just Wrong?

By wrong I dont mean just made up, but do other things like se robots and spiders count towards the hop count.

The reason I ask is I've never really noticed before but I have a relatively new site, I made a new post on it and it got 10 visitors that day according to Google Analytics, according to clickbank hops I got over 70 clicks from those ten visitors. Then the next day I had 26 visitors and 10 clicks, much similar to what I was expecting.

Anyway I already know I definitely did not sent 70 clicks from those 10 visitors, just wondering if this has happened to others. Kind of throws the conversion % tracking off a little bit.

It's robots. Clickbank doesn't care to remove them from statistics.

I ran into a similar problem a few months ago -- and the answer I then got was that it were probably crawlers that visited the link.
