Are High Paying Keywords Worth Chasing?

Is it any use to run after top paying keywords in Google? Or is the competition too strong and one would do better with something less ambitious? I'm wondering if it's worth it.

top paying keywords will earn you a lot, so choosing the top paying keywords is worth than using an ordinary keywords...try to make a research with google keyword tool.

So do I just focus on targeting less competitive key phrase combinations of these top paying keywords? That way I can grab more hits in a competitive area? I'm thinking top paying keywords have high competition, so it's tougher to penetrate that market. Low paying keywords have less action but the payout is also low. I just want to know what others' experience is like. Me, I'd rather run a few niche topic blogs that I like, and then experiment with top paying keywords as I can.

To be frank the competition is too heavy that it is right to say impossible to break the market. So, I suggest to go to medium competition and get the best out of it.

Top paying keywords are good to consider, but to get traffic on to the website you need to target less or medium competitive keywords and there are also other ways to generate traffic other than organic search results, as here to earn from adsense your objective is only to get more and more hits.

There are many other ways to gain traffic not just by paying for the top keyword/s.

Its useless. There is lot of competition so it is more advisable to target keywords in your favorite niche.

I think its useless because i have made this mistake , its very hard to rank for those competitive words , You must use less competitive phrase

    Thanks

A topic which always annoys me. IT IS POINTLESS CHASING $40 CLICKS. But if you want to then I would encourage you to do so as then you won't be competing against me in my niches. Simply put it is a waste of time. If you are new to adsense then you will almost certainly chase the megaclicks and we have nearly all done this, but listen to me and save yourself sometime, build traffic and aim for niches in the $1-2 market and you will do far better.
Think of the reason why some mythical person might be prepared to pay $40 to drive one visitor to their webiste. On word "Competition" - if that advertiser is having to spend $40 just to get one visitor who may or (more likely) may not turn into a sale then there has to be a reason for that.
I have posted here before on this subject and pointed out that if the next advertiser down the chain is only prepared to pay $2 then the top guy doesn't pay $40 he only pays 1 cent more e.g. $2.01 of which google pays you 50% of for the click netting you around $1 and not half e.g $20 of the $40 click you were expecting.
Hope this explains why high dollar clicks are not the best place to start.
I did once get one $8 click but wasn't using channels at the time so took it to be a one off as it was pointless without being able to track where it had come from.
Hope this saves people wasting their time - to those that still want to waste their time, hey why not try building a site on "mesothelioma" - then come back and re-read this post in a months time (and learn)

Totally wrong and plus mesothelioma is not the only competitive niche out there
If you like competition and working hard, then go in for competitive niches, of course to make it to the top it takes time....a lot of time rather, i had to wait for one year to get there for a very competitive niche and mind you the earnings are close to 80$ on an average day just from one site, but then you need to be on top 3 for that to happen and yet another problem is retaining that spot, but once you are there and done it, shouldn't be a problem with other niches
Try it and persist with it, you can beat anyone

Totally wrong....so are you suggesting everyone including newbies targets $40+ keywords....And you missed my point that the mesothelioma keyword I suggested was totally tongue in cheek(!). My point was merely to suggest that to people new to adsense was that targeting $40 per single click as you yourself pointed out was hard competition. BUT you should have noted my post was about mythical $40 single clicks NOT $80 per site average earnings. On the basis of my post does that mean you are just getting two $40 clicks per day to get your $80? If so then get that ebook written right now and get selling it! Sorry if you misread my post - If you are making $80 per day with 2 clicks from one site then that is great but if you re-read my post then that wasn't the angle I was coming from.
One guy on my own forum pulls down $1,000 per day from a 3 page golf site.....
Not starting a war e.g. think posts may have been misread, but unless anyone can comment to the contrary the $40 click is a myth which which was all I was trying to say!

Here is a suggestion but take it for what it is.

Focus on getting a ton of traffic to the site THEN on your pages you could always have a "click here" OR OTHER method to get them to your OTHER pages with the high paying keywords on them.

Instead of focusing on out optimizing thousands of seo guys for top placement simply get the traffic to your site through OTHER keywords that have plenty of traffic and have links to the top paying keyword optimized pages and if your visitors want to check it out then they can.

It isn't a redirect or shady method BUT getting your traffic to more valuable pages that they are interested in as well.

Be sure that TOP paying keyword are used by TOP marketers. Unless you think you can beat them at their million dollar game, your wasting money and time. Focus on long tail keyword, forget those 5$+ clicks, not worth it.

For a new guy chasing top keyword in the beginning is path to loosing money. I have lost lot of money in the beginning going after Google ad words to get visitors to my site. Yes I did get visitors and made money. When I checked balance i ended up spending more money on bought traffic then I earned.

Now I used safer technique. Write content, add more content. Content should be related to domain or niche subject. Submit to article directories. Exchange links, get back links. Mix long tail keywords in your content or write new posts on long keywords related to your domain. Apply SEO, email marketing, sign posts, word of mouth, social networking etc. With in few months your sites start getting some money to your account. Patience and hard work is needed.

As a beginner first thing needed is to read what the rules are for ad sense. Lot of resources is here at this forum and read and apply. Pick one site and start building traffic on it. Once you have gained experience and you see results and next thing you know what to do.

No body becomes overnight rich. After few years in this game my sites are still getting few cents to few dollars a day.

Around those high paying keywords or niches, you have micro niches and if you have the patience to research and look for those long tail keywords, it can be the beginning of your journey to higher paying niches.

Besides even if you have these long tail keywords, mix the content with the high paying keywords and sometimes you will get those high paying ads to your site and if someone clicks on it, it's your day. You can slowly build on the long tail keywords until you got to page 1 and then slowly creep into the higher end of things.

That is what i did and on odd times I got those 3.00 or per clicks....

    Good luck
