With the new WP 2.5 many new subscribers from .ru come and register but can they do any damage as subscribers. I know there was a securty update about this and i did that as well. But now can they do any damage?

As soon as the guys over at Wordpress.org find a security breach, they fix it and release a new version of Wordpress, so as long as you stay updated you should be fine. If it still bothers you, you might just want to delete those subscribers if they really aren't interacting in the site and assuming that they can still read it (just in case they are real readers) without being a member.

if you are worried at all just moderate the comments so nothing gets posted to your blog without your approval

I use aksimet and bad behavior mods to keep out the trash. They work pretty well.

That is why the best thing to do is simply stay updated. If a lot of the bots are coming from the same ip, you can also just block that ip. If they are coming from several ips, chances are they will keep coming no matter how many you block.
