A client contacted me and his site is down. Wanted me to see if I could ping Godaddy. Are others seeing problems here?
yes, Godaddy is down. Rumors go that it's been hacked by Anonymous http://mashable.com/2012/09/10/godaddy-down/
Yes, but it seems that is not th anonymous collective but one single person. Auch! My domain is hosted in GoDaddy I hope they are going to fix it quick! (It is WORKING now!)
I had some problems getting on fiverr so i tweeted them about it.... the problem seems to be a Godaddy issue: http://techcrunch.com/2012/09/10/godaddy-outage-takes-down-millions-of-sites/ It seems to be an attack from one of the "Anonymous" members, the well known hacker group. Watch your Godaddy accounts closelly! Edit: Godaddy is now not reachable for me
Under attack, http://techcrunch.com/2012/09/10/godaddy-outage-takes-down-millions-of-sites/ Fiverr also having problems.
It seems the sites using GD hosting were effected and the GD home page was also down for some time. Now it seems to work.
Not for me, Godaddy still not reachable and fiverr still just text. Ps: Your nick lol.... newbie191, 1592 posts, member since 2008 lol
The GoDaddy site is down as are all Blogger.com sites registered with GoDaddy. Are there problems with this company? It seems the problem lies with an attacker - I read about it here: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-57...iced-web-sites-taken-down-in-apparent-attack/ I'm not sure it makes the situation any better. Glad to update with the news that the sites are working - as the article above was looking at a shut down of anything up to a few months this news could be well received... hope so...
Hi - just started a thread about godaddy.com and .co.uk being down. Also blogger.com sites registered with godaddy are not working. You'd think that they'd have some sort of back up - this is a total disgrace.
Oh yeah, a single guy called AnonymousOwn3r attacked Godaddy. The guys is surely a legend to have been able to cause this epic outage. Godaddy is still working to fix the outage and get all sites back online. It's gonna be a tough work. More here: http://t.co/temaHsVn
Yes they have been having lots of issues in the past 3-4 hours. It seems like they are resolved now though. - Daniel
I was surprised how quickly some of the technology and social media sites threw up a few better places to keep and buy your domain names. I see many customers who are upset about the level of security which Godaddy had in place. How can just one claimed person take down the mega and mythical Godaddy?
I can now login but still not manage my domains... and their competitors were using this as marketing. Hostgator is giving 50% discounts or 6 months free, the coupon is godaddyisdown and the promotion link HostGator Name.com is doing the same... 50% on hosting, and $6.99 on domain transfers. Real-time updates it's at their Twitter and Facebook pages: https://twitter.com/GoDaddy https://www.facebook.com/GoDaddy
I don't blame them to be honest, it must have felt like all their birthdays had come at once when GoDaddy went down. I do wonder how many clients took them up on the offers.
"Godaddy, a popular domain registrar and web hosting company, was attacked by hackers today. This caused millions of websites are down. " http://wpth.net/godaddy-hacked-thousands-of-websites-down/ Amongst this tragedy, HostGator found an opporunity. They are offering all new clients 6 months FREE web hosting.
Emails sent out by GoDaddy apologising and offering compensation to make-up for the issue. I don't think it's necessarily their fault, I'm not sure any hosting service could have stood-up to the attack, but it does show need if you're a revenue generating website to have back-up servers - whether Amazon or whatever. There are plenty of free web monitoring services that the moment your site had gone down could have pinged another URL to bring your back-up servers up.
