    Garbage links are basically worthless but i guess it give some people something to do while they wait for the green bar to change.

    google works on a system to not count wordpress comments links.
    Try to use quality links : 1. social links
    2. backlinks from forums with pr 4-9 on page
    3. backlinks from edu and gov websites ( high pr on root )
    4. backlinks from high pr on page pr 4-6

    I have a lot of them if you want , i can do it for you with low prices.

    ex : 19 backlinks (naturally built) on pr 6 pages cost 57 euros....

    Just wanted to give my 2c on this one... spammy links are bad. I had a site go from 160-odd to 450+ by posting a handful of comments on spammed pages. Not good :-( but wasn't bothered about the site :)

    I would think that if they looked like spam to you, then all the search engines most likely have them classified the same way. I agree with the majority on this one.
