I'm just want to know what you of all are think about using FTP software for uploading / downloading of your sites files to your host because I think if FTP software maker wants, they can track our ID / Password without having any problem. Its not impossible from them to do such. Sometime I get afraid to think about it......if they do this, what'll happened.

If you've got a decent firewall, you can see where your FTP connections are going.

I meant when we add ID and Password on the FTP software to login to our host server, then they could track our info if they want. But I'm still using FTP software because I never heard anything like this.

Just use a firewall to see if your FTP client is "phoning home".

Ya, I'm using firewall. Can you please make me clear about it....... if we use firewall, have any capability of a firewall to prevent them from phishing our ID and Password?

A firewall can't really help against phishing, if you're dumb enough to get phished, then you probably deserve to learn a lesson. It can only prevent applications from connecting out - if your current firewall doesn't alert you of OUTBOUND connections, then get a new firewall (e.g Sygate).

You can also use netstat to see what's going in and out of your PC.

I use filezilla and I never encountered any phishing threat. Go for the trusted brand and rest assured.

If you use an FTP manager from a reliable provider - do not worry about it

Why don't you use a good FTP software like FlashFXP or CuteFTP?
The chances of getting your credential leaked will be low.
