Are free Directories worth submitting too ?

I have submitted one site to around 350 directories, misc directories..... Ive done this over the last 2 months. So far I have seen absolutely no increase of back links to my site, no traffic increases, or really anything different. PR is still same also.......

Do these sites take weeks or months before they actualy link to you, if ever ?

Do these directories even mount to anything ? I mean I never look at any, and who would ?, when most folks it seem would use search engines like Google, or MSN or Yahoo to find websites etc ..........

in my view no worth submitting to.before you submit the directories see whether that particular directory gonna stand for atleast 6-7 months.

Submit just 50 good directory thats a lot better than 300-400 free and worthless directories.

I started looking more at the lists in here: with good directories. These are the ones I submit first .. and then if I see a nice directory in some links here I also submit. I do not submit to paid directories, to those who ask for ana ccount or reciprocal link. I don't have money to throw on such directories, nor the time or site space for accounts or links back.

They worked for me but I concentrated more on free niche directories and free directories that are PR3+. Now I get lots of spam  but I've sen some improvement at least!

Also do you already have PR? Going from PR0 to PR1 is a lot easier than going from PR2 to PR3!

A cheap PR3-4-5 link from a site is always better than a link from some crappy directory ;)

    Hi there,
Have you been tracking each listing? You'll be able to monitor each site you submit to so you know if it's worth submitting to in the future. You may also want to consider using a submission software for the sites that are not worthy of your time submitting by hand.

    Enjoy your day!
    Terry :)

Maybe 3 or 4 out of a hundred new directories here are worth bothering with.

Try to submit in quality niche directories as well, niche directories are good source of local traffic and are less competitive.
