Are forums good medium to get backlinks?

After searching many sites for backlinks finally i found forums are the best way to increase your inbound links or backlinks.
What do you think?

Do follow forums will not only give you backlinks (and in turn pass on the PR juice) but also they serve as a source of potential traffic if you have an attractive anchor text. Backlinks are counted more worthy if they are from related niches and one way links fare better than two way links

 

Agree with dairyman, but I don't see forums as that important in my link building strategy, I tend to use them more to generate hits
