Are Facebook Links worth much?

I'm not talking about the 'no follow' or 'untrusted links' from facebook, I'm talking about the HTML tab/box trick revealed on Hubspot recently.

I set up a link from my profile, which appears as PR9 page.
Just wondered if anyone else had done it and had any joy. Or is it just another cheap, free link?

the fan pages pass juice -- but im not sure google spider will index the profile pages -- ill look now... i once placed a link to a competition i ran.. i have 260 friends and 29 ppl were referred in through it... so it has some use i guess...

you got a link to the hubspot article your talk about?

    Peace

Fan pages don't pass juice. Any links appear in the source as 'untrusted' 'no follow' even though SEO Firefox displays it as a followed link, but it's not.

I'm on about your own custom banners.
Warner Brothers have done it here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jack-Bobby/35002248197?ref=ts (FFS, why can't I post links!!?)

huh? - -thats a fan page in your thread... hence fan pages pass juice... as you dont have to log in to facebook to see that.. i.e neither does google bot...

i see what u mean about the banner -maybes they have paid for it? maybes they are trustworthy enought to have such a thing... dunno, i dont tend to drop links in facebook...

you tried the create a page for my business link at the bottom?

    http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

any luck with the article from hubspot?

The article is a bit incoherent. Had to figure it out myself.

I couldn't get a banner with link to work from a fan page, but I could get it to work on my personal profile (which I don't fancy posting here)

go to facebook and look under applications for MY HTML.
Follow the instructions and you can put some html on your profile page with followed links.

Profile pages can go public if you set them to. I'm guessing the link from a FB page will be weak, but those things do tend to get high SERP results, so it's more of a residual traffic source than a backlink deal.

When you are longing for traffic, FB can be a nice tool in driving traffic. Remember, FB is the top Social Networking site.

As long as you have active friends in facebook, You can gain traffic to your site. Act as a person not a website. In that way, everything will be on your way.
