I dynamically generate the meta-tags for the dynamic pages on www.shackn.com For example, on this page about Moffats Beach.... http://shackn.com/component/option,com_chronocontact/chronoformname,frmSurfDetail/surfid,50/ ....the following meta-tags are generated from some PHP code which extracts a few variables from the back-end database querying code. <meta name="keywords" content="Moffats, Australian, Australia, surfbreaks, surf breaks, surf, breaks, Caloundra, Sunshine Coast, Queensland" /> <meta name="description" content="All the information you will ever need about Moffats. Detailed information, surf reports and forecasts, web-cams and suggested holiday accommodation. Be equipped for your next surf trip at Moffats on Queensland's beautiful Sunshine Coast . </td> HTML: Is dynamically generating meta-tags for your individual web pages considered bad practice? Because I can't see any other way around it in the instance of my Shackn site....
I don't think there will be any problem with it. All-in-one SEO pack of wordpress also store the keywords and description in the database.
no use of metat tag expect description to show onthe search result. But for serp no use so dont worry
If you're asking about Google : They don't give a sh*t about your meta tags. For the rest of the search engines : It's always good to write unique descriptions by hand, but I don't thing it matters too much.
The problem is....I can't write them by hand. Joomla is too clunky, when integrated with the Chrono Forms plugin to generate pages on the fly, to allow me to write meta tags for each individual page. I'm so over Joomla now it's not funny.
Well, the example you got there CODE wrapped is not going to have any negative impact on your rankings but I think they won't have any positive impact either. The TITLE of a page, be it dynamic or manual should not be stuffed with different keywords or names of different places/countries. That part should go in the body. As long as you don't stuff your title with spam, you got nothing to worry about
Ok, thanks for your feedback guys. My next question - is it bad if I have the meta tag for description in the body of the HTML, rather than the head? Because the meta description is also generated dynamically from variables within the PHO code, the body is the only place that I can insert the meta tags. I'm really only concerned with how Google will display the Meta Description in SERP. What are your thoughts?
