Dont do Doorways... Read the Google Webmaster terms .. http://www.google.com/intl/en/webmasters/ If you what to play with the big boss of search engien you should familair yourself with the rules.. Those pretty much apply to all the others as well. Big G controls about at minimum 60% if not more of all the search engine traffic. Especially in US.
Right Getting inbound link text with your keywords is the most important thing you can do.. so no one bothers to get all of those important links and only point them at a doorway. If you're going to make a page with great inbound links, you might as well make it look nice and function well and have good keyword density at the same time. A doorway leading there would be redundant because really.. it is all about the links.
It totally depends on your definition of what a doorway page is. fhiremark, what did you have planned exactly.
I was thinking of those automatically generated pages where makes the spider enter a link and back to your index, etc.
Hmmm.. just giving you the heads up on your John McCaine site - you've got 'Affiliates' above your AdSense adverts. I'd change it to 'Sponsored Links' just to make sure you're complying with AdSense policy. Pete Ps. Does he suck?
Right, there is a ton of so-called "information pages" which really are doorways. Some major websites/companies implement them into their seo strategy. They are not considered doorways, since they are normally well designed and someone got hired to create text that is valid. However, whether something is a doorway page or not does depend on the intention behind creating them IMO. So the term doorway page really is hard to pin down. My advice is to make sense at all times. Create pages that benefit your visitors and structure your site in a way that they don't get lost. Just my 2 cents.
