Are DMOZ editors controlling the ODP section now?

Lately the threads in OPD section are getting locked for no apparent reason and robjones claiming that people should be afraid because he can MAKE the admins to "moderate" the threads and ban people. After seeing that critical threads about DMOZ getting locked one after another, it makes me wonder if he is right about his claims.

I just noticed that I got 2 infraction point under the disguise of "attacking other member" excuse when I was answering a DMOZ editor personal attack. It kind of reminds me of old time in WPW before I joined this forum couple of years ago, when DMOZ editors paid admins in links to ban me from that forum.

Sometimes, it's all about HOW you respond.

I wouldn't worry about robjones claims, though. I haven't seen anything in any of his posts that wasn't BS.

All of the threads turn into the same old bitchfest. So I lock 'em as soon as they stray.

No sense in having 35,000 threads about the same worthless nonsense.

And no, I'm not an ODP editor...never have been.

Actually I've made no such claims, and I have no sway with the guys that run DP, but if Crazy_Rob is locking threads that are simply turning into the same old song... hey, good for him. :)

I'll gladly admit I've been reporting any threads that get out of hand, or so far off topic they are no longer needed. Most of the threads have turned into one huge re-hash of the same old thing....and it's trolling from all sides!

I do try to repost the first post if it wanders, or the first post on the page it wanders (though, I try to note that it's not that specific post).

It would not be so bad if the thread's discussion actually progressed into a good debate, but as of late, it's just one member jumping on another member based on the content of some other unrelated (and likely locked) thread. Many of these trolling or flaming posts have NOTHING to do with the topic of the thread.

The bickering is pointless and is doing more harm then good at this point...we all need to reassess how we are posting in that board.

And yes, I include myself in the problem, and have reported my own posts (twice now). As of late I have been trying to be a better and more helpful member.

And for the record, we all can get the admin and mods to moderate. That's why they gave us that handy little [IMG] icon, though for it to be truly effective, one needs to actually report problematic posts/threads. ;)
