You really showing how little you know about Alexa....or can you show us which category at the Alexa Directory your site is in and the category at DMOZ that it is not in?

There is a BIG difference between the Alexa Directory, which is a copy of DMOZ (and what this thread is about) and the Alexa site rankings - they are different! (do we need to type slower!)

This thread reminds me of an exercise where participants are provided with a list of instructions and the first step was to read the instructions and detailed a number of steps to follow. The last step was to ignore all of the previous steps.

Amazing how many people went through the motions and completed each step before realizing that weren't supposed to perform any of them.

Okay I agree, there has been some confusions with this thread,

but again I still do not believe that alexa DIRECTORY is just exactly a copy of dmoz, for instance alexa lists free domains of tripod.com however they are not on dmoz; as an example

    allamehelli.tripod.com

    is listed on alexa here:
    http://www.alexa.com/topsites/category/Top/Regional/Middle_East/Iran/Education/Alumni

but I can not find it on dmoz

I know this domain is just a subdomain of tripod but at least it shows that alexa & dmoz directories are not exactly the same!

From the Alexa site: "Directory listings are provided by the Open Directory project and enhanced by Alexa."

Do we have to define enhanced or do you think you can figure that out without assistance?

[Some of the posts in this thread are so dense they could have their own gravitational field.] =-p

I don't mean to sound redundant, but as most have said above they are separate entities.

Dmoz and Alexa both are two different Sites and different thought from each other and you did not need to submit your site in alexa it's will be fetched automatically by alexa crawler you just need to focused on your traffic.

This thread's starting to look like an IQ test, and the number of people failing is pretty scary. Read the responses before posting fellas.

You and most of them have not even bothered to read what this thread is even about. Can you please tell us why you did that?
Did you even read this thread before posting in it? Your answer is totally irrelevant to the thread and wrong in the context of what the thread is about! You obviously did not read the thread before posting. Can I ask why you did that?
This thread is turning into a classic! Its also shows why DP has such a bad reputation among professional SEO's
What has that got to do with the topic of this thread?

Maybe a mod needs to lock this thread to prevent anymore making fools of themselves.

Both are different. To be listed on alexa, you have to submit and validate your site for proper indexing.

I still do not get it. Both of you have NO idea what this thread is about and clearly did not read it before posting your comments above. Care to explain why you did this?

How many more times must people post that dmoz and alexa are completely different before you get it?

    They all do. :p

This is getting insane! Did you read this thread before posting in it? The question was about the Alexa Directory being a copy of DMOZ. Which bit of that did you not get?

They are different. I've submitted to Alexa, but couldn't find my website on DMOZ. It means their directories are different.

Absolute nonsense! If you go to the Alexa Directory and click submit, it takes you through to DMOZ!!!!
