For all those who posted in this thread claiming DMOZ and Alexa are different --- do you guys actually read threads before you post in them? Do you even know what the original poster was even asking about? They were asking about the Alexa directory that is taken from the DMOZ rdf dump, as a couple of posters have correctly pointed out in this thread. Did you even read these replies?

Why are so many posting the nonsense in this thread! No wonder Digitalpoint has such a bad reputation among professional SEO's when there are threads like this populated with nonsense from people who have no idea what they talking about.

Did you even understand what the original poster was asking?
They asking about the ALEXA directory which is based on the DMOZ rdf dump, SO THEY ARE THE SAME !!

Maybe some people need to type a bit slower as so many in this thread are not getting it!

This is getting insane! Did you read this thread before posting? ... I will type this bit really really slow for your benefit:

The Alexa Directory (which is what this thread is about) is a clone of the DMOZ directory (it is based on the DMOZ rdf dump).

Care to explain how they have lots of difference, when they are the same!

Okay I did look at all the responses here at this thread but as far as I know there is absolutely nothing in common between Alexa and DMOZ, if you are saying there is something in common then you better prove it instead of repeating it again and again

Again... the commonality is that Alexa uses the dmoz database. That is shown in my post above and verified by the screenshot below.
Per their own site, the Alexa "Directory listings are provided by the Open Directory project and enhanced by Alexa."

This is the first time I hear that "Alexa uses the dmoz database", do you have any reference or proof ?

I do not believe you. You obviously did not read the thread as you claim. If you did read it you would see the earlier post by robjones! He even posted the screenshots in an earlier post and above so people get it. Why is this so hard for people to get?

Why is robjones screen shot not enough proof for you?

Just go to the Alexa Directory and look!!!

To save you the trouble, here is a link to one page:
    http://www.alexa.com/topsites/category/Top/Computers
Scoll down to the bottom and you will see what robjones posted as a screenshot.

What are you talking about? What do you mean by different options? Did you even read this thread before posting to know what it is about?

AGAIN... See the screenshot on my posts. It came from Alexa. See it on their page here: http://www.alexa.com/topsites/category/Top/Regional

The fact that this is the first you've heard of something is hardly proof that it isnt true.

Years ago; alexa used to use dmoz as a source of listings but now days there are way too many websites that are in alexa but not listed in dmoz (for instance my websites).

So again now days the 2 are completely different ...
