Are directories still profitable today? What is the reason people visit such directories and what sets successful directories apart from others now?
if you ask about money, i will say hell no (hard to make single buck in a day) but i still manage my directory for fun and to keep myself busy.
My question is that are they still necessary for SEO or just a means of back-links and not so guarantee traffic.
What you should ask yourself is: When did I last time go to a directory for anything or find anything through a directory? Me neither.
Yes, they are. I can PM you my income. And some people still use real human reviewed directories. Check out a few of the best directories and just ask their analytics, filetering everything bur seach questies.
I looked over your directory; I would use your directory for sure, very nice domain authority...however, I am so deep in the hole right now, one more backlink is not going to make a difference right now, otherwise, i would not hesitate on adding my site too your directory, and it does not matter if people think they are useful or not, when it comes to backlinks, you need a diverse range of backlinks, good, bad, high, low,it does not matter, otherwise, google may think your link profile is not natural, however, your ultimate end goal would be less irrelevant, and more high authority niche based backlinks. Do not get me wrong, directories in my opinion are not very good in terms of seo, in fact, my seo guy gives me a base line diversity links from business directories, however, there is certainly nothing wrong if you are looking to pick up a backlink from a directory that has some authority, however, you should know why you are getting the backlink, it is more for link diversity then anything else, if I want more solid effective seo, then I would focus more on high authority niche guest posts....
Hi, Directories are hard work, Most give up, Think about this, Most people use search engines, A low percentage use directories from an end user point of view, Most directories are visited by people trying to submit links where they have been paid very little to do so. Trying to connect with say businesses and or even end users looking for businesses via a directory is really so hard, I've done a few, Tried many different methods, I have two directories that do ok but the truth is for the amount of work i put into them for the return i should have given years ago. All The Best
the good thing for me, that in the uk, there is no site for the community of secuirty staff to chat and post one site that was about has gone very very down hill to maybe 1 topic a month. As sia in the uk is now law. It would be a good site to build up with companies all over the uk and also posting of new guidelines. I have had 3 companies who would like to get on the site and post jobs. As over summer and other events, big comapnies need to get staff on board and if a good known site, people will use it to chat and build it up. im very new to wordpress and rss feeds ect and made a temp site that im trying to revamp
Not all backlinks count! It depends on the quality of the directory and the listings within. Best Regards J
Still back links are standing as strong signals for ranking but it depends on numerous factors and experience. Don't pay for links it's not suggestible.
