Just wondering if I should continue submitting to directories. I'v been reading a few threads about google and yahoo coming down on all these directories. So are they still worth it? or is it all just a waist of time now.
Waist /= Waste You should not listen to anyone ... judge yourself if not sure then wait and see how things go for directories then make decision yourself.
Did you really post this question to a forum frequented by directory owners? What kinda answers are you expecting here? There are probably more-unbiased places to ask this question. By the way, yea they're worth it.
Apparently to me, it must still be worth the time because I'm still receiving 100+ submissions to my directory a day. It's never slowed down, so I guess the vast majority still believe in directories. GOOD ON THEM!
I don't know about Google, but Yahoo seems to like directory links. It doesn't seem like directories are ever going to go away. If you are unsure, it's better to just submit to the directories now, and see the results, than to just sit on the sidelines wondering.
Free directories will continue to recieve massive submissions thanks to submissions services plus the free hunters, will be interesting to see how much weight SE's give such listings
Some directory links are also important for getting traffic, as users go through these to look for specific sites.
Free directories are time consuming and I don't see any possitive results with them. What are the best paid directories that can boost your pr faster?
PR is on hold. Strange you missed that one. Are you also unaware of the fact that Google is victimising the sites that would have normally helped you to "boost your pr faster". I suspect that they have their hands full right now but they might take you up on this a little later. Once the dust has settled. As for the free directories, they work just fine. Always have!
Its coming down on some paid directories. There are thousands of free ones that are running as usual. We submit to 7000 of them. Of course they work because they are a link and they are categorized.
Ah well... i really think they are... just started on directories.. and I really don't think i'll be letting anyone bring my spirit down... not just yet
Genuine directories are still cool. Always will be. Its the attitude that's doing all the damage. But even that's changing. When did you last see one of those 'What's the Strongest List' type of posts? Google is getting its message across and the link pimps are falling over each other in the stampede for the Emergency Exits.
if free directories are time consuming then why people submit sites on DMOZ. the only difference between free and paid directories is free directories submit your site later and paid submit it very quickly.this is the only difference between them.
Why not spend the $30, $50 or even $100+ for a directory link on buying some relevant contextual blog posts at $10 each, or just some links on a relevant website with content.
Yes you can keep continuing your directory submission process... They helps a lot for SEO purpose and backlinks
No its not a waste of time submitting to directories including paid directories is still fine the issue with the penalised directories is not the fee they charge but there buying sitewide links on other sites
Also be aware when submitting your site to various directories, your site can be prone to spam mails.
There is no need to give your actual e-mail when you syubmit to directories. You can always make few e-mail like , and use them when you submit to free/paid dirs.
