Are directories still worth submittint to since BigDaddy?

With all the hooplah about "quality" back links since the new Big Daddy update in Google, do directories get labled as bad links?

As we all know, the only reason we submit to them is to easily get back links to our sites for SEO purposes. They are really just a categorized link farm. Surfers don't use them, except a few of the biggies. Most ask for dreaded recips. And the other half are paid (oh no, paid links. guess they all switch to no follow tags)

Sure, they still help lots for placement in Yahoo:) but what is the future of all these directories.

    Opinions please

Quality niche directories can still drive traffic directly so still worth to submit also if google label bad link.

An established quality directory can be an authority link from the mouth of Google itself.

The Big Daddy update made some very noticeable changes in some long established directories starting in March by indexing a volume of pages we would never have thought possible previously. All these cached pages have generated exceptional organic search results and traffic volume has increased dramatically.

One the other hand some less established directories with low content lost cached pages and took a bit of a beating.

I can’t speak for all directories but I have been very impressed with several directories I’m affiliated with and consider them to offer very good link value.

It would be interesting to hear from some of the other directory operators as to how the Bid Daddy update has affected them. I have been very fortunate and pleased with the results.

As long as the directories are search-engine friendly, I don't think those links should be bad links for you:)

I agree, any backlink is good. Most directores dont have more than 25 links on a page so they arent link farms and shouldnt get a bad label.

and besides most of them are human edited, and this is highly regarded by google. The bottom line is that good directorys provide gool links.
Submit to as many as you can, because if a link is bad nothing happens to you as you can't controll who links to you, but if the link is good then you win !

I too would like to hear from some directory owners how BD has been affecting them. Pages being dropped form the index? Still the same? Or an improvement? Or is it still too early to tell for sure.
