    Sadly NO :(... It is a very rare case if visitors (or even link submitters) cliks on the AdSense ads. Directories do not even have a large number of visitors.

    Yout only chance is if you create some link bait (user attractive - funny or shocking) content and get users to spread on the social media. If you can manage to get a great number of visitors, your AdSense income will rise.
    More visitor = More AS income...

    no one really reads the directories. most people use automated directory submission tools to submit to directories and people who submit manually just clink on the submit link and submit the site. if you have a directory that gets decent human traffic, then you might promote some seo services or link building services which webmasters or submission service providers might find interesting.

    one of my directories gets about 30% search engine traffic. Kinda shocked in general. I made no $$ off of adsense.

    If your directory contains links to Gambling or other sites that are not allowed in adsense you will be banned. I remember another directory owner was complaining about adsense ban here a few months back.

    As a directory owner of 30 PR directories I can tell you that they get a lot of traffic, but the majority seems to be visits from bots that auto submit, not sure how they get around the captcha but they are definitely not natural.

    The problem I find is that it's extremely difficult to stop all of the spam, and if you have adsense on those pages eventually Google will ban your adsense account.

    I find that having affiliate links which are related to link building and directory submissions work best for me.
