Are Directories A Good Way To Invest In Links

What are you thoughts on buying directory listings? I am just interested in hearing other opinions on this matter.

 

My opinion is to do some research and find a few good quality directories with a niche and/or category which is relevant to your site. Look particularly at the editorial standards of a directory: Are all the sites in the correct category? Are the titles of submitted sites accurate and not spammy or keyword stuffed? The descriptions should be just that and not an advertising pitch. If available have a look at the recently submitted links always a good first impression. Does the directory look well maintained and in the business of categorising sites to be helpful to the user or is it built primarily for advertising?

 

Well, paid directories is always better than free directories.
