Are Digital Banner Ads A Good Source For Branding?

    Do you think banner ads can work as a branding tool or is traditional media still the best source for credible branding?

    Banner ads do not have a long shelf life so they have to grab someone's attention quickly based on how well the creative is done. Equally, banner ads need a high level of impressions for repetitive exposure.

    If you take a look at Overstock.com when they first started with the beautiful TV ads, how well would they have been received by only using banner ads instead of the TV commercials?

    It seems that for any broad marketing campaign, businesses need to consider not only the digital marketplace, but also include the traditional trio media as well.

    Anyone have thoughts around this?
