Are definitions or glossaries copyrighted?

I was wondering if defintions or glossaries are copyrighted or can they be used in your content?

    For example

    Dandy Brush:

A stiff-bristled brush used to remove dirt, loose hair, and scurf from a horse's coat. The brush, sometimes known as a mud brush, is applied with short strokes and a whisking action. The bristles should be cleaned periodically with a curry comb.

The facts are not, the creativity is.

Pen: A writing instrument (all fact)

Pen: An instrument used by many to put words down on paper. Most professionals prefer black ink, because it matches the color of printed contracts. Pens come in many shapes and sizes. (some fact, some creativity)

As you can see, there's a difference in definitions.

Your example is a creative description.
