Are coupons and reviews the only way to get commissions?

Beyond coupon sites and review sites how do the successful CJ affiliates set up their sites?

Have any of you had success with adding CJ ads to content sites? Do you use banners or in-text links?

fact is, your site can be anything, coupon, reviews, whatever. what makes the difference is the actual content that you display and if you can get ppl to your site. most ppl in affiliate marketing would also agree that coupon sites are somewhat a non-issue anymore because there are so many of them, plus some use pretty sleazy tactics to get their clicks. point is, i would definitely look beyond coupon sites to get commissions via affiliate marketing. what that "beyond" is for you, totally depends. depends on what you know, what you're good at, what you think will convert etc etc. point is, there is no rule in affiliate marketing that determines success, so i would recommend doing more research on seo and click stream analysis, this way you'll know how to get ppl to your site, then how to convert, regardless of the type of site you choose to create.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

In my case I am adding CJ to existing sites with highly targeted traffic - they have light traffic but it is highly targeted.

It seems like I have a good match of product offerings vs page content yet in about 40 days I've had only about 10 clicks despite seeing 300-600 impressions per day. (I have not fully implemented all of the placements that I have in mind yet because it seems to be yielding no results.) The irony is that after adding the CJ links, the Adsense units are showing more targeted ads but the clicks seem slightly down.

My Amazon results have been only marginally more successful but I suspect the immediate purchase requirement is providing them sales without providing me with commissions. (I hardly ever purchase a book on the first visit and suspect my typical site visitor buys the same way.)

I am trying two different placements and neither seems to be getting anywhere. If anyone has some suggestions, I would be most grateful...

(spaces are intentional and should be deleted to visit the pages)

I'm thinking my placement might be too subtle and my visitors might not realize that they are actually links.

    Any suggestions?
