Well I can't speak for the other webmasters but I've logged quite a few hours in coffee shops... In fact, it's the SOLE reason I got into this field... to avoid a 9 to 5 job and hang out all day. So long as my income allows it (lately there hasn't been much coffee... but that's because I have a small child). Anyhow, it really depends what kind of coffee shop you want to run. I'd say that wi-fi and such is a no-no... the whole point of going to these places is to be around people and socialize... meet others and not surf the web. I know there are a lot of internet cafes and cafes with wi-fi access... you can do it, it's not expensive but you better get insurance in case a waiter spills coffee on someone's laptop. Bakerys are the way to go. Find someone with a good image and make sure people know it's coming from their place. Pastery and sweets menus with their name and logo on it, small sign in the window, etc. Don't overdo it... you don't want to advertise them. Bottom line, go out and see what others are doing, go to the local chamber of commerce and network events... hook up with a few coffee shop/cafe owners and talk.
