Don't you think google puts less value on a comment link? Maybe you'll get some traffic through the comment from curious viewers if your comment intrigues them enough.. but I mean are they really worth it? Does google treat it as any other kind of back link or are they less valuable?
I think Google were onto it years ago, I really doubt they have any SEO impact although blog comments WILL get your site listed in Google, that's the first step when I need Google to index a new site.
If your blog comment is on a blog that is reataed to your site it has some weight. But these folks blasting blog comments with acai berry links on tech websites should focus there time on other efforts. They'd get a better return doing something else.
Blog comment can be treated as back link by google if you put dofollow link. I write comment and link on some blog and it increase PR even the blog has no related topic.
The purpose of commenting on blogs is not really to get that much traffic from the blog itself, but to increase page rank because of the valuable link you get if you comment on authority blogs. Your traffic will come from the search engines eventually, because of the number of quality backlinks you have created
in my own experience doing blog commenting really help increase the backlinks of my site yeah.. it's hard to find dofollow blogs and get approve by moderators so you have to make sure that it's worth posting and not just a spammy comment
You shouldn't use blog commenting for seo, although it can be a great way to network with other bloggers.
I've had very limited exposure to blog comments, but from what I've done I can say that it does establish some free traffic. It's definitely not the kind that you're going to earn thousands on a week, but again, that depends on the number of backlinks you create. If you're sitting and posting all the comments personally, you're gonna run into issues. If you have a program that automates the process then you may be talking the web's language... Jason
So dofollow blog comments are the same as any other backlink? well I mean, depending on their pagerank of course, but I mean are the backlinks of comment links the same as the backlink of a link to your website in their blogroll? I don't like the idea of automated blog comments, sounds to spammy for me.
