I think there is very little belief that Americans will be around in Afghanistan, Iraq, or any other Middle East location for any length of time, regardless of whether we win or lose, unlike the 40,000 troops we left in S. Korea(thriving Democracy) or the 50,000 we left in Japan(thriving Democracy) half a century ago. When we are gone, who will protect the people who protested the Taliban or Al Queda from Al Queda and Taliban sympathizers? Many in Iraq went down that path in 1991, a war which was won by the coalition, and paid a heavy price.

You know it only crossed my mind now . When it comes to dangers to freedom I've always thought China was number 1 followed by extremists on number 2 . But if you think about it China can only muster about 200 million military which will be poorly trained and poorly equipped . They have nukes and a large war machine but at least we know where they are and how can we terminate them .

On the other hand 800+ million potential extremist that can turn terrorists at any time and strike without any kind of rues of engagement and can hide in sheep's clothing are a far more dangerous . So far I've been heavily campaigning against China for being a danger to the planetary climate and the Geo-political stability of the world . But Perhaps I should have targeted the extremist 1st .

Yeah right Al-Qaeda and Taliban are so brutal and shown their retaliation to people in many circumstances, even they don't bother to murder Muslims and their own people in mass for this reason but I'm not sure no reaction by Muslims against them was just because scare of them.

As weakileak showed most of the money for Al-Qaeda came from Saudi Arabia so hope before USA leave Iraq and Afghanistan such support won't existed anymore.

Here is an interesting thought. If Iran had a government that represented it's people, they would make a far better ally for the US in the Middle East than the KSA. Educated population, fairly modernized culture, lots and lots of oil, and absolutely no love for the KSA, though for different reasons perhaps. In that world, KSA would get the treatment they so richly deserve and places like Afghanistan would be a lot less problematic. Instead, we are dealing with Saudi money funding extremists in Afghanistan to buy arms from Iran, while at the same time the KSA leadership urges us to bomb Iran.

Right now, China has the best weapon of all. Money.

If you take take US out of NATO, China is almost there. Its delusional to call China's present day military poorly trained or at the "level of sticks and stones" when compared with NATO.

The US army's budget alone is 7 times bigger then China's . The combined research power of the NATO weapon labs can't be matched even if you want to . Srsly they are sticks and stones . Their only so called strong point is their continuous work to build more and more nukes .

That's pretty seriously evil. It reminds me of Muhammad's troops murdering the old woman Umm Qirfa by tying each of her legs to a camel and having the animals tear her apart.

Zayd also raided Wadi-l-Qurra where he met Banu Fazara and some of his companions were killed; he himself carried wounded from the field. Ward b. Amr b. Madash one of B. Sad b. Hudhayl was killed by one of B. Badr whose name Sa’d b. Hudhaym. When Zayd came he swore that he would use no ablution until he raided B. Fazara; and when he recovered from his wounds the apostle sent him against them with a force. He fought them in Wadi-al-Qura and killed some of them. Qays b. al-Musahhar al-Yamuri killed Mas’ada b. Hakama b. Malik b. Hudhayfa b. Badr and Umm Qirfa Fatima was taken prisoner. She was a very old woman, wife of Malik. Her daughter and Abdulla b. Mas’ada were also taken. Zaid ordered Qays b al-Musahhar to kill Umm Qirfa and he killed her cruelly. -- Ibn Ishaq 980

Allah’s Messenger sent Zayd to Wadi Qura, where he encountered the Banu Fazarah. Some of his Companions were killed, and Zayd was carried away wounded. Ward was slain by the Banu Badr. When Zayd returned, he vowed that no washing should touch his head until he had raided the Fazarah. After he recovered, Muhammad sent him with an army against the Fazarah settlement. He met them in Qura and inflicted casualties on them and took Umm Qirfah prisoner. He also took one of Umm’s daughters and Abdallah bin Mas’adah prisoner. Zyad bin Harithah ordered Qays to kill Umm, and he killed her cruelly. He tied each of her legs with a rope and tied the ropes to two camels, and they split her in two. -- Tabari Vol.8:page.96

This is how Muhammad taught that prisoners should be treated. Al Qaeda didn't invent this shit.

What is with the gory stories, certainly not one sided or geographically isolated - try the Spanish Inquisition or some choice Crusader offerings, equally as disgusting as any of the above.

That could very well be an underestimation. On the Wiki below, just in the Los Angeles metropolitan area alone, it says there are about 700,000 to 800,000 Iranian Americans.

I haven't been there, but that's probably right.

I think the picture below is the Saffron and Rose Ice Cream shop in that area. They have really unusual flavors of ice cream that I've never heard of, like Rose, cucumber, saffron.

Found the business listing at Yelp.

    nice Rebecca
try saffron ice cream, saffron bring smile. my wife loves saffron, she use saffron with rice, sweet drinks and cakes mostly.

the name of that shop is "flower and nightingale ice-cream" as it wrote in Persian on the left side of the shop.

I rather to eat "paalodeh" sweetbeverage containing starch jelly in the form of thin fiber. you can see it in picture 35 of your link.
seems no customer is in the shop! lol

I thought about in the link you mentioned and 700 or 800 thousands of Iranian in LA! it was more than I expected because know that next generation of Iranian who born in USA, no longer show theirslves as an Iranian.

my wife cousin lives in Atlanta, she told me in there Iranian have a small community who see each other regularly in parties but their children don't go to Persian schools to learn our language.

I asked her: "if your children unwilling to learn their mother language so who goes there?"

she responded: "Iranian Jews send their children to learn Persian!"

I've never tried saffron. Wasn't really even sure what it is. Today, I was out, and decided to ask some friends. Seriously.

Rebecca: "Have you ever tried food with saffron in it?"
    Pam: "Saffron...saffron...what?"

Rebecca: "Have you ever heard of saffron?"
Daniel: "Nope. I've never heard of it!"

Rebecca: "Have you ever eaten food with saffron in it?"
    Mark: "I. don't. know."

Apparently, saffron is a mystery! :)

I looked it up on Amazon, and it's like $100 an ounce! No wonder I don't know what saffron is, LOL.

I was thinking the same. You could have quite a lucrative Internet business selling saffron to Americans! That is, after we learn what it is...:)
