Are Bidding Directories really Directories, or are they advertising platforms like Adwords, where you bid for position on a page ?.
My friend they are like web directories only where your links are arranged according to the amount you pay. The higher you pay the higher your link will be placed. Thats it . You can see bidding directory is like www.bigweblinks.com So if you pay more than 3035$ , you can be listed on the top of the list. Thats the concept there.
Is there any reason to indicate otherwise? As far as I am concerned, they are directories (or at least, the categories-based ones are). The alphabetical-only ones are subject to debate.
I guess it also depends on what your definition of a directory is? If it is a place that categories and lists websites AND delivers traffic then most definately. If it is a place you have your website listed to increase PR, then can you really call ANY "directory" a directory? I think this is something that often gets overlooked when people start arguing over Paid v. Bidding directories.. Just my thoughts, Lance
a bid directory is the same as a normal paid directory, it just allows advertisers to gain kore exposure. people see them as inferior as they their current state is very poor - few listings, little content, bad theme, accepting any sites, many run on dropped domains, lack of sub categories. I aim to change this on my directory, and blog about many things to help others improve.
Why does this sound familiar when it comes to the conventional-type directories? LOL Seriously however, I cannot understand the negativity with bidding directories. If they want to complain about all those factors above, I think you just have to look in the "Solicitations & Announcements" section to see the huge number of general directories which have all these as well, not just bidding directories.
It is something which offers no value to a surfer so yes they are exactly the same as any other web directory.
