Hi I am thinking of creating a banner which links to a page on my site which other websites can link to as part of my link strategy Will a banner act as a link as well as a relevant text word. I want to get up on google on keyword "advanced driving course" So will this text term url enabled to the page be better than a banner linking to the same page..? Thanks
Make sure you place a decent ALT text like alt="advanced driving course" It should be really easy to rank high for advanced driving course, the competition is really low.
Choose a page where your banner will appear. This page should always be on a topic very close to, or exactly the same as yours, so that whenever somebody clicks through to your page you know the person is already interested in what you have to offer.
The effect of image is much worse that text.So you'd better develop text links.SE would prefer this way.
I personally think for SEO purposes text links are better, but for genuine user hunting use banners. Ive currently got my site text linked from around 2 sites with around 3 PR each and it really helps me.
But Google does see 'alt' text, it alongwith a link will surely make up for a text link having an anchor text.
Actually if you use banners instead of text links you are definitely going to take down your site attentionality to reach the top even if you use the alt tag. Like for example text links have 100% chances to take your site to the top while banner links only have 5% chances, But this is in terms of SEO but if you are a online marketer and wants to sell something i would say banners are the best because they can definitely attract a lot of customers who are waiting to take their credit card out of the wallet
Banners are great for driving traffic, due to the fact that it catches peoples eye. A great way to give away links without giving PR juice if you don't want, however, if you're going to use them for backlinks, then the classic text link is the best option. Each has it's own advantage in honesty
