Are Backlinks Important In Google Ranking?

My question is that are backlinks important in google ranking? i have a site named as jewelry.baysworld.com it has no backlinks and it is ranked on no 2 on google on the keyword of women pendent what do u suggest.

 

I take it, it's a fairly new site. I checked the PR, and my google toolbar says it's a PR 0. Search engines love change, and it's possible that Google looked at your site favorable as new material, and gave you a two for awhile...Now if you don't change or update the home page it will eventually fall. If you had back links, the PR is easier to sustain for a longer period of time but it can't keep it there for ever unless you add more quality links. In your case, I would focus in on SERP rather than page rank.

 

Google love new content. Google give new pages and new sites a "New Content Boost" and places them high up in the search results, but this is temporary. You will see such pages vanish from search results after few days.

And yes, Backlinks are the most important thing which it comes to ranking. Build lots of back links in order to have a constant and high search result placement.

 

You will need to update your site regularly and get quality links for your site to maintain and get more high rankings on Google

 

Simply because it's not a competitive keyword and no body is searching for it, try to do a search for "women pendent" in google and you will completely understand WHY???

it's only showing 10 result, then YES backlinks is the key to rank and keep ranking in Google, unless you want to rank for a couple of days then go with blogs and publish fresh content every day.
