Are you sure those things are taking place, or did you just make them up? Let's see, what's that option that keeps cropping up? Ah, yes...MOVE!
Funny. I say the same thing about you, yo. I don't think I've actually seen a unique thought from you in months
Didn't you once (maybe even twice) say you were going to move out of America? Can we chok that up to being young and naive? That was last year, remember? About four chest hairs ago
Yo still can't resolve who blew up the WTC - Bush or Bin Laden. I doubt he's ready to move out of mom's basement
I love how these threads descend into personal attacks so quickly. "You don't believe/disbelieve as I do? You must be an ignorant, pathetic, drunken, addled, bigoted no-hoper. Etc etc." Kierkegarde talks about faith, pointing out that if there were any proof available, it wouldn't be true faith. And therefore it wouldn't be worth anything spiritually. Maybe he had a point. At any rate, there's rarely any reason to talk about proof when you talk about religion, because it's essentially about those things that are unknowable. I think there are things inherent in human nature that make people want to believe in things like God, heaven, the soul, and so forth, and that make people want to take part in rituals and worship collectively. If it's a psychological need, then thwarting it could cause depression and despair. That's why I don't usually like to intervene and attempt to convince people that my beliefs are any improvement on theirs. It's only when someone's belief brings with it a threat of violence and oppression that speaking out is important.
Ya its descended into a bit of a shit fight, as these threads often do. Your probably right, faith is driven by a psychological desire to believe, which in turn is driven by fear. Fear of death, fear of what comes after death, fear of being alone, fear of being an outcast...you name it. Society wide those that tell you faith is a good thing, are as much afraid of what comes after faith as anything else.
