This question just popped up in my head. If I get a url link(i.e. http://www.mywebsite.com) from a high quality site, would it count more than a normal anchor text link? Do non-anchor text links somehow count towards SE Rank anyway?
not as much as before.in my opinion,google prefer to judge the link relevance through the content of this page
I agree somewhat I still believe that the anchor text holds a lot of weight of a link. When ever possible I would try and have optimized keywords anchor text.
I believe it is best to have an anchor text whenever you can, if not, it is fine. I find that if the content is relevant and the anchor text is to, it is often better to have.
So getting a non-anchor text link from a high quality site such as an .edu or .gov page isn't worth the effort then rite?
yep. I with you. different anchors and url(sub url) are necessary, which could cause the difference of 5th and 50th position in google.

Definitely the anchor tag link have more weight. Because we want to promote the site with some specific keywords not with the URL.
